
Stingrays Gameday: Stingrays Sign Cascalenda, Battle Gladiators Tonight

South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC -The South Carolina Stingrays announced today that they have signed defenseman Jay Cascalenda and prepare to battle the Gwinnet Gladiators tonight at 7:35 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Tonight is the eighth of 17 scheduled meetings between the two teams this season. South Carolina is 2-2-1-2 against the Gladiators this season.
Cascalenda, 24, joins the Stingrays tonight after spending four seasons at the University of Minnesota-Duluth where he recorded ten points (1g, 9a) in 127 games. Prior to college, the West St. Paul, MN native played two seasons in the USHL with the Waterloo Black Hawks and Indiana Ice.
The Stingrays return to North Charleston Coliseum Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6 to battle the Elmira Jackals at 7:05 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Saturday is Tailgate Saturday and Used Car Giveaway Night! Bring the food, the music and the FUN! You could also walk away with Stingrays Head Coach Cail MacLean's car! Sunday is our annual Teddy Bear Toss benefiting Debi's Kids and the Salvation Army. Bring a stuffed animal to the game and get ready to throw it on the ice after the Stingrays score their first goal! Sunday is also kid's day featuring $5 kid's tickets and pregame kid's carnival. Camp Bow Wow will be on the main concourse for Adopt-a-Dog Sundays featuring the Adoptable Dog of the Night.
Note of the Night: Stingrays forward Matt Fornataro comes into tonight's game on a three game goal streak (3g) and a three game point streak (3g, 5a). The Calgary, AB native has now moved into a three-way tie for first on the team in points.
The Road Most Traveled The Stingrays make a brief return to the road where they are 10-2-0-2 this season and have a winning percentage of.786.
Fighting Forward Stingrays forward Spencer Carbery leads South Carolina against Gwinnett with eight points and is first on the team with 24 penalty minutes.
