Wranglers Sink Salmon Kings, 2-1

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (9-12-1, 19 Points) defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings (6-13-2, 14 Points) 2-1 in front of 4,722 fans at the Orleans Arena Friday night. Wranglers center Francis Lemieux tallied the game-winning goal with 5:12 remaining to give Las Vegas their third straight win. Las Vegas forward Ryan Weston also tallied for the Wranglers. Las Vegas goalie Joel Gistedt stopped 25 of 26 shots to improve to 1-2-0 on the year. Victoria defenseman Tim Wedderburn scored the lone Salmon Kings goal. Victoria goalie David Shantz made 26 saves in the loss. The Wranglers will head to Victoria to take on the Salmon Kings Thursday, December 10th, at 7:05 p.m. at the Save on Foods Memorial Centre.

After a scoreless first period, Las Vegas opened the scoring at 1:34 of the second period with a goal from forward Ryan Weston. Forwards Adam Miller and Francis Lemieux assisted on Weston's third goal on the season to give Las Vegas the 1-0 lead. Victoria evened the score with a tally from defenseman Tim Wedderburn at 14:41 of the middle frame. Center Mike Hamilton fed Wedderburn who scored on a wrist shot from the right circle to even the game at 1-1.

Las Vegas regained the lead at 14:42 of the third period with Lemieux's fifth goal on the season. Lemieux finished a two-on-one opportunity with Miller for second point of the night and a 2-1 Wranglers lead. Las Vegas went four-for-four on the penalty kill, including one in the final minute to hold on for the 2-1 victory.
