Cincinnati, OH-- The first meeting between the Florida Everblades and the Cincinnati Cyclones of the 2009-10 season proved to be a test of will. Cincinnati scored first with a goal from Hans Benson to open the second period. Ross Carlson scored the equalizer in the third to send the game into a sudden death 4-on-4 overtime. Neither teams scored in over time and the game was decided in a four round shoot out. The first two skaters for the Cyclones slipped past Barry Brust and clinched the win 2-1.

The visiting Florida Everblades and the Cincinnati Cyclones opened their first meeting by taking each others measure. Cincinnati attempted to make their presence known when Brock Sheahan took down ‘Blades captain Kevin Baker with a hard check. Harrison Reed took exception to the treatment and dropped the gloves at 3:35. Both men were awarded five minute penalties for their efforts. Florida, ranked third in the penalty kill, put it to good use throughout the remainder of the first stanza killing penalties on Phil Paquet (hooking) and Kevin Baker (tripping). The period ended deadlocked 0-0.

With only 28 seconds elapsed in the second Hans Benson jammed one past goal tender Barry Brust to give the cyclones a one goal lead. It was Hans Bensons first goal of the year and the only marker of the second stanza.

The pace picked up in the third period. Ross Carlson scored the equalizer at 1:41 off of a pass from Brad Zanon and Peter Metcalf. Both teams continued to battle and had chances to score, but some creative skating from Peter Metcalf kept the Cyclones from scoring and goalie Mark Dekanich made a save stopping ‘Blades Colin Nicholson's rebound attempt. The game remained tied forcing a sudden death overtime.

Both teams exchanged penalties in overtime, but neither team was able to convert and the game was decided by a shoot out. Cincinnati scored off of its first two shooters, Dustin Sproat and Scott Reynolds taking the victory 2-1.
