
Wranglers Outgun Salmon Kings, 7-5

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) (8-12-1, 17 Points) defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings (6-12-2, 14 Points) 7-5 in front of 3,409 fans at the Orleans Arena Thursday night. Las Vegas forward Adam Miller led the way with three goals and one assist in the Wranglers second consecutive win. Right wing Mick Lawrence scored twice, and forwards Ryan Weston and Ned Lukacevic also tallied for the Wranglers. Wranglers goaltender Billy Sauer made 39 saves to improve to 4-2-1 on the season. Victoria defenseman Patrick Coulombe scored twice in the loss, while forwards Chad Painchaud, Mike Hamilton, and Randall Gelech also scored for Victoria. Goalie Glenn Fisher stopped 24 of 30 shots in the loss. The Wranglers will host the Victoria Salmon Kings Friday, December 4th, at 7:05 p.m. at the Orleans Arena.
The Wranglers opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal from right wing Ryan Weston at 8:52 of the first period. Center Adam Miller and defenseman Craig Switzer set up Weston's second goal on the year for the 1-0 Las Vegas lead. With just 1:05 remaining in the opening period, Miller tallied on the power-play to give the Wranglers a 2-0 lead. Right wing Ned Lukacevic fired a hard pass that Miller tipped in for his sixth goal on the season.
In the second period, Victoria cut into the Las Vegas lead with a goal from left wing Chad Painchaud. Former Wrangler Mike Hamilton and forward Andy Brandt assisted on Painchaud's fifth goal on the year. At 9:45, the Wranglers answered back with a goal from forward Mick Lawrence. Lawrence snapped in a loose puck for his sixth goal on the season to increase the lead to 3-1. Victoria pulled within a goal at 16:35 of the middle period with a tally from defenseman Patrick Coulombe.
Las Vegas extended the lead to 4-2 with Lawrence's second goal on the night to begin the third period. Exactly one minute later, center Mike Hamilton pulled Victoria within a goal with his third goal of the season. At 6:02, Victoria pulled even with a goal from right wing Randall Gelech. Hamilton picked up his third point on the night, setting up Gelech's fourth on the season to tie the game at 4-4. The Salmon Kings took the lead at 5-4 just 1:28 later with Coulombe's second goal on the night. Forwards Scott Howes and Olivier Latendresse set up Coulombe for Victoria's first lead of the evening at 7:30. Las Vegas quickly responded with a goal from left win Ned Lukacevic at 8:08. Lukacevic notched his fifth goal of the year to tie the game at 5-5. The Wranglers pulled ahead with Miller's second goal of the game at 10:17 of the third period. Adam Miller tipped in Mike Madill's shot from the point to give Las Vegas the 6-5 lead. With one second remaining, Miller added an empty-net goal for the hat trick to give the Wranglers the 7-5 victory.
