
Stingrays Push Their Winning Streat to Five with 3-1 Victory at Gwinnett

Duluth, GA -The South Carolina Stingrays (14-6-1-3) defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators (10-6-2-1) 3-1 Friday night at The Arena at Gwinnet Center finishing a five-game road trip. Stingrays forward Nikita Kashirsky netted the game-winning goal and goaltender Todd Ford knocked aside 30 of 31 shots in the win.
The Stingrays lit the lamp first as forward Matt Scherer buried his sixth goal of the season past Gladiators goaltender Danny Taylor at 6:28 of the first period. Rob Ricci and Nate Kiser recorded the assists. The Gladiators responded with a power-play tally at 11:28 from Adam Berti. Berti knocked in a lose puck along the right-wing post of Stingrays goaltender Ford for his sixth goal of the season. Defenseman Drew Paris and forward Tom Zanoski received assists.
The two teams skated a scoreless second period, but South Carolina forced 12 shots on Taylor. Ford pushed away seven second period chances for the Gladiators. The Stingrays finished the first 40 minutes of play 0-for-2 on the power play.
South Carolina regained the lead at 11:54 of the third period with a power-play goal from Kashirsky. Stingrays forward Trent Campbell earned the lone assist. Trailing by one late in the third, the Gladiators pulled Taylor in favor of the extra man, but Stingrays center Keith Johnson scored in the empty net to seal the 3-1 victory. Ford earns his eighth win of the season knocking away 30 of 31 Gladiators shots. Taylor is saddled with the loss stopping 26 of 28 Stingrays chances. South Carolina finished 1-for-3 on the power play while Gwinnett went 1-for-4.
