Stingrays Game Preview: Stingrays Celebrate First-Ever Undie Sunday Today

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays celebrate Undie Sunday and Crews Subaru Family Day and look continue their ECHL-record 18-game winning streak today against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 3:05 at the North Charleston Coliseum. Today is the 16 and final regular-season meeting between to the two East-Division rivals this season.

A Run for the Ages:

The South Carolina Stingrays set a new ECHL record for more consecutive wins last night, picking up their 18th straight victory behind a 6-0 triumph over the Gladiators at the North Charleston Coliseum. During the winning streak, the Stingrays have outscored opponents 78-24 and have allowed only one goal in the last four games.

Jakaitis Sets New ECHL Shutout Streak:

South Carolina goaltender Jeff Jakaitis set a new ECHL record on Saturday in the Stingrays' League-record 18th straight win, a 6-0 victory over Gwinnett. The shutout extended Jakaitis' shutout streak to 259:32, breaking the previous ECHL record of 236:03, set by Darryl Paquette of Hampton Roads in 1996-97. It was also Jakaitis' third consecutive shutout, which ties the ECHL record for most consecutive shutouts. It is the seventh time in ECHL history - and second time in Jakaitis' career - that a goaltender has posted three straight shutouts. The first time in Jakaitis' career, all three shutouts came against the Stingrays when he was a member of the Gwinnett Gladiators.

Undie Sunday:

Bring new, packaged diapers, men's, women's and kid's underwear along with socks and other undergarments to throw on the ice after the Stingrays score their first goal of the game, similar to Teddy Bear Toss. Series Breakdown:

The Stingrays are 12-3-0-0 against the Gladiators this season, won 12 of the last 13 contests and have shutout the Gladiators the last three meetings. Forward and Captain Andrew Rowe leads the Stingrays against the Gladiators with 14 points (three goals, 11 assists). All time, the Stingrays sit with a 78-53-13 record.

Milestones Within Reach:

Forward Tim Spencer is two penalty minutes from 1,000 as a professional. Forward Andrew Rowe is three goals away from 100 as a pro and forward Rob Bellamy sits five points from 200 professional points. Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis has tied a career-high with five shutouts.
