March 15, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, Ind.- A late third period strike, could not propel the Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, past the Orlando Solar Bears, who came away with a 4-1 win at the Ford Center. Patrick Watling scored twice to send the Solar Bears to victory.
Orlando picked up a pair of goals in the first period. Watling scored on a deflection to put the Solar Bears on the board. Denver Manderson found the back of the net on a 2-on-1 breakaway to give Orlando a 2-0 lead after one.
The IceMen fired 12 pucks at the net in the second period, Maxime Clermont stopped all of them. He recorded 22 saves through the first two periods. Branden Komm denied all 10 Orlando shots he faced in the middle frame and made 27 saves through two to keep the IceMen deficit at two.
In the third period, the Solar Bear power play got it going. Orlando picked up a duo of power play goals from Max Nicastro and Watling to make it a 4-0 lead.
Evansville retaliated later in the third. Travis Granbois smacked a shot that Clermont stopped. Jarret Lukin slammed in the rebound to give the IceMen their first goal. Justin MacDonald earned an assist on Lukin's 12th of the season.
Clermont would not let the IceMen get any closer. The Solar Bear netminder made 35 saves to give Orlando a 4-1 win. Komm made 34 saves in the loss.
