Sarnia Sting News Release

Flint, MI - The Sarnia Sting travelled to Flint Friday night for a rival matchup against border rivals the Flint Firebirds. The Firebirds skated away with a 4-3 win scoring all 4 goals in the first period.

The Firebirds started out the game strong scoring the first goal of the game just 33 seconds after the puck was dropped. The Sting were dominated playing most of the period in their own end, and only generated a period total of 6 shots. The first period belonged to the Firebirds.

Throughout the game, the Sting started to get going creating scoring chances, and creating good opportunities in a penalty filled game. Both teams had a combined total of 21 penalties.

The Sting started to build the comeback after Davis Brown kick-started the cause with a goal batted in out of the air. The newest member ofTeam OHL in the 2015 Canada Russia Series Jordan Kyrou joined in on the scoring late in the second period in which Sarnia ended on a positive note.

The third period belonged to the Sting with chance after chance but couldn't catch a break on Flint's hot goalie Alex Nedeljkovic who stopped 29 of the 32 shots. Pavel Zacha got the lone goal in the third period but wasn't enough to complete the comeback. Justin Fazio stood tall when needed making 20 saves on 24 shots.

The Sting return home Saturday November 14th when they take on the Guelph Storm at the SSEC.
