Flint Firebirds News Release
Flint, Mich. - Three Firebirds players recorded multi-point nights en route to a 4-3 victory over Sarnia on Friday night to keep Flint undefeated through three games against the Sting this season.
Just 33 seconds into the game, Flint's Nicholas Caamano deflected a shot from Will Bitten into the net to give the Firebirds their first goal of the evening.
Then, while crashing the crease, Ryan Moore would take advantage of a pass from Will Bitten, earning Flint a two-goal lead 3:20 into the game.
Dane Johnstone would expand Flint's lead to three goals, scoring his third of the season after backhanding the puck top-shelf, over the right shoulder of Sarnia's Justin Fazio at 15:07 of the opening frame.
Zach Grzelewski would score the eventual game-winning goal with 2:26 remaining in the first period while whacking the puck out of mid-air, sending Flint to the locker room leading by four-goals after the first 20 minutes of play.
Davis Brown would score the Sting's first goal also while out of mid-air at 11:38 of the middle period. Then, with 36 seconds remaining in the second frame, Sarnia's Jordan Kyrou would score from the right circle, blocker-side past Nedeljkvoic. Pavel Zacha would score the final goal of the game from the slot at 11:28 of the third period.
Flint's Will Bitten was the third star of the game, Nicholas Caamano was awarded the game's second star and Ryan Moore earned first star honors.
