OHL Owen Sound Attack

Double Header Weekend for Attack

November 13, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack are hoping Team OHL's 3-0 victory over Team Russia on Thursday night propels them to similar scores for a weekend home stand.

After the CHL Canada Russia Series took centre stage at the Bayshore on Nov. 12, the Attack return to their home for a pair of tilts against the Kitchener Rangers and Saginaw Spirit on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Saturday evening's 7:30pm puck drop against the Rangers marks the first time the Midwest Division rivals have clashed in Owen Sound this year, but is the 3rd meeting overall between the sides. The Rangers are off to a hot start in 2015-16, having lost just one game in regulation through 18 contests.

Owen Sound and Kitchener have needed overtime to solve both of their meetings this year, with the Attack capturing the first game 5-4 while the Rangers took the 2nd contest 3-2.

Ryan MacInnis leads Kitchener into the weekend, having found the back of the net 13 times on the year while adding 11 helpers for 24 points. Sophomore forward Adam Mascherin is also producing at a point-per-game clip, registering seven goals and 12 assists in 18 games.

As has been the case for most of the season, Owen Sound enters the weekend powered by Captain, Santino Centorame. Centorame's breakout year has seen him pick up six goals and 11 assists in the Attack's 18 games on the season.

It's another defenceman who may be buoyed with confidence heading into these upcoming games though. Getting the call to play for Team OHL in the CHL Canada Russia Series despite having only been able to play in five games due to a wrist injury, Thomas Schemitsch made the most of his opportunity on Thursday night.

The Florida Panthers draft pick registered an assist in the Team OHL win, and will certainly have confidence from that moving forward.

Schemitsch is also a point per game player for Owen Sound, with two goals and three assists in his five appearances on the year.

Following Saturday's contest against Kitchener, the Attack will turn their attention to an Investment Planning Counsel Sunday tilt with the Saginaw Spirit. The Attack and Spirit will meet for the 2nd time this year when the puck drops at 2:00pm on Sunday, and Owen Sound will be looking for some revenge after Saginaw grabbed a 3-2 in their earlier meeting this season.

Dylan Sadowy, who also appeared in Thursday's CHL Canada Russia Series contest, leads the Spirit in point production this year with 17 points.

While tickets for Saturday night's contest are limited, fans are reminded that Sunday's game will include all of the usual family fun, thanks to Investment Planning Counsel.

As always, the first 200 children through the door will receive free popcorn, while all fans will have a chance to win an autographed jersey. Following the game there will be a Skate With The Team and autograph session.

Tickets for both games can be purchased at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.

The Weekend Preview is presented by Joe Tomato's, located beside the Galaxy Cinemas on the Sunset Strip. For half price wings and appetizers, bring your tickets in to Joe Tomato's following every Owen Sound Attack home game.
