KINGSTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs (6-11-1-0) lost 4-3 in overtime Friday night to the Kingston Frontenacs (12-6-1-1) at the K-Rock Centre.
The Frontenacs opened the scoring as defenceman Nathan Billitier fired in a one timer on the power play at 13:50 of the first period. Kingston outshot Hamilton 13-11 in the first period and held a 1-0 lead at the intermission.
In the second period Hamilton pulled even when Michael Cramarossa banked in a shot past Frontenacs goaltender Jeremy Helvig. Cole Candella and Matt Luff picked up the assists on the Hamilton power play goal at 11:17.
Kingston restored their lead when Lawson Crouse picked up a bouncing puck in front of the Hamilton net to make it 2-1 at 17:22 of the period. The Frontenacs took a 2-1 lead into the locker room and outshot the Bulldogs 23-19.
In the third period Kingston scored the first even strength goal of the game when Ted Nichol netted his third of the season to make it 3-1.
The Hamilton power play got back to work half way through the third as Niki Petti stood on the foot of the crease and converted a Stephen Harper pass.
Just over two minutes later the 'Dogs tied the game up with another power play goal. This time it was Stephen Harper with a point shot at 12:24 to even the game up at three. Hamilton would pepper Kingston in the late stages of the period but could not finish the comeback in regulation.
In overtime it was Juho Lammikko who scored the winner just 52 seconds into extra time.
The Bulldogs are back at home tomorrow (Saturday) night when they host the Ottawa 67's at 7:00 p.m. Hamilton will also take on Peterborough Sunday afternoon at FirstOntario Centre.
