
Steve Munn Joins Sound Tigers On PTO

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have signed Defenseman Steve Munn to a professional tryout contract and added him to the roster under emergency circumstances. Munn is expected to be in the lineup when the Sound Tigers visit their intrastate rivals, the Hartford Wolf Pack, tonight at 7:05 p.m.
Munn, 25, joins the Sound Tigers from the ECHL's Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies for whom he has one goal, seven assists, eight points and 134 penalty minutes in 59 games this season. The 6'2'' 215-pound native of North Battleford, Saskatchewan was also a member of Atlantic City's Kelly Cup Championship team last season notching two goals, nine assists, 11 points and 170 penalty minutes in 72 regular-season games, as well as one assist and 18 penalty minutes in 19 playoff games. Munn played five games with the United Hockey League's Elmira Jackals at the end of the previous season, 2001-02, after finishing his four-year collegiate career, 1998-2002, at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Tonight's game will be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM and at www.soundtigers.com. The Sound Tigers will also visit the Binghamton Senators tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. and the Albany River Rats Sunday at 5 p.m. They will visit the Philadelphia Phantoms next Friday and the Norfolk Admirals next Saturday and Sunday to complete a stretch of seven straight road games. The Sound Tigers do not play at home again until Wednesday, March 31st when they will host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:05 p.m.
Sound Tigers individual-game tickets are on sale at the Harbor Yard box office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on all game days, as well as on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 203-368-1000.
