LOOKING AHEAD:
Manchester and Lowell renew their border war on Friday night at the Tsongas Arena (7:00 ET) in the teams' 12th and final meeting of the regular season. The Monarchs are transporting a 13-game points streak (9-0-2-2) over the state line, a run that began with a 3-0 win in Lowell 30 days ago. League MVP candidate Pavel Rosa has 12 points (7g, 5a) in his last eight outings for Manchester and 14 points (7g, 7a) in 10 contests against Lowell this season. The Lock Monsters are 7-2-1-1 in their last 11, and Patrick DesRochers has won each of his last six appearances in net.
Utah sits just two points out of a playoff spot in the West Division entering the weekend, but a rematch with Milwaukee looms on Friday (7:05 MT, 8:05 CT) to provide another big test for the Grizzlies. Behind a 35-save performance by Dan Ellis, who had lost nine of his previous 10 decisions, Utah claimed a 2-1 victory over the Admirals on Wednesday night. Milwaukee, however, has not lost back-to-back games in more than two months (Jan. 14-16), and former Grizz goaltender Wade Flaherty has stopped 78 of 80 shots (.975) and posted two shutouts in three starts against Utah this season.
Grand Rapids has lost five of its last eight games heading into a quick road trip to two of the toughest buildings in the league for a visiting team: Rochester's Blue Cross Arena and Philadelphia's Wachovia Spectrum. The Amerks have scored 32 goals in their last eight home games (6-2-0-0), and their 21 home victories this season are one shy of the league lead as they bid for their 15th consecutive postseason berth. Philadelphia, which put an end to the Griffins' 16-game home unbeaten streak on Feb. 29, enters the weekend tied for first in the East Division. Philly's only two losses in its last 14 home games (11-2-1-0) were to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, which visits the Spectrum on Friday night.
