Coins for Cancer 2004 Drive at Mile One Tonight
March 19, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
On Friday, March 19, Geoff Eaton, the Founder and Executive Director of RealTime Cancer, will be bringing the Coins for Cancer 2004 Drive to Mile One Stadium. It will be the fourth straight year that RealTime Cancer will be distributing ribbons during a St. John's Maple Leafs game.
Coins for Cancer is a 31-day Drive that will run until Monday, March 29, 2004. The Drive has three main elements: wearing blue and yellow ribbons, symbolic of Faith and Hope; creating a mountain of Coin to help support RealTime Cancer's education based mission; and providing opportunities for Geoff to communicate his âPositive Attitude' message as he speaks to high schools, support groups, and other community audiences throughout the Drive.
RealTime Cancer was established in 2000 with the mission of educating youth and young adults about preventing and dealing with cancer challenges. RealTime Cancer has refined its mission to be the #1 cancer resource for young Canadian cancer patients when they are looking for inspiration, non-medical information, and support. All RealTime Cancer activities always have and will continue to flow from a core belief and message of Positive Attitude. The new RTC portal is launched so join our online community at www.realtimecancer.org.
RealTime Cancer was a Leafs Foundation charity recipient for the 2001-02 season. For more information about RealTime Cancer and its operations, visit www.realtimecancer.org.
The Leafs Foundation, the charitable arm of the St. John's Maple Leafs and the St. John's Maple Leafs Booster Club, has donated over $1,000,000 to local charities since the club's first year. This season the Foundation will provide funding to 10 organizations. Further Leafs Foundation information can be found at the St. John's Maple leafs website at www.sjmapleleafs.ca.
