Bulldogs Shut Out at Mile One Stadium

ST. JOHN'S, NF - Despite firing 37 shots at St. John's Maple Leafs goaltender Jean-Francois Racine, the Hamilton Bulldogs lost 2-0 at Mile One Stadium on Friday night.

The Bulldogs remain in first place in the AHL's North Division with 84 points on a record of 35 wins, 22 losses, 10 ties and 4 overtime losses.

After two scoreless periods, the Maple Leafs Aaron Gavey finally opened the game's scoring at 6:18 of the third period when he took a shot from just inside the blue-line that was deflected past Bulldogs goaltender Olivier Michaud. Robb Palahnuk added an empty-netter for St. John's with just five seconds remaining in regulation time to give the Maple Leafs a 2-0 victory.

In goal, Bulldogs goaltender Olivier Michaud stopped 29 shots in his first start since February 28th. The Maple Leafs Jean-Francois Racine earned the shutout by making 37 saves.

On special teams the Bulldogs did not score on their three power play opportunities, and surrendered one goal while playing shorthanded.

The Bulldogs record through ten games versus St. John's this season now stands at eight wins and two losses.

The Hamilton Bulldogs next action will take place on Saturday, March 20th at 6:05 p.m., as the Bulldogs will face the St. John's Maple Leafs in a re-match at Mile One Stadium.
