Brampton Steelheads News Release

A terrific team performance by the Steelheads on home ice as they blanked the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-0.

First Period

The Steelheads looked to extend their season-long winning streak to three games on home ice against the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The Steelheads defence held the Bulldogs offence in check throughout the first twenty minutes with great forechecking and physicality. Steelheads offence generated several chances around the Hamilton crease, but was unable to produce the opening marker.

Steelheads' starting goaltender Roman Basran had a quiet first period, but kept the Bulldogs in check with three good saves.

Second Period

The Steelheads stood their ground with a solid defensive presence and a great showing by Steelheads netminder Basran. A noteworthy highlight of the middle frame occurred at the 9:02 mark as Basran robbed Bulldogs defenseman Gavin White with a highlight-reel glove save.

Steelheads went to the powerplay four times in the period. The powerplay unit produced several quality chances in their attacking zone but could not solve Bulldogs' netminder Marco Costantini.

The Steelheads finally broke the deadlock on the powerplay just two minutes in, as Kasper Larsen and Owen Beck setup Luca BelBelBelluz for his fourth goal of the year, giving the Steelheads a 1-0 lead.

Steelheads extended their lead at the 4:39 mark with a terrific goal by Owen Beck, tucking the puck through the left pad of the Bulldogs' Costantini for a 2-0 lead. Zakary Lavoie and Ethan Del Mastro were credited with the assist.

Bulldogs put on the pressure as the period went on, but Steelheads' Basran put on a clinic in net with several highlight-worthy saves. James Hardie sealed the deal with an empty netter for the Steelheads at the 18:33 mark. Basran recorded his first career OHL shutout in the win, earning him the first star of the game.
