Sarnia, ON - Behind a Josh Bloom four-point game, the Saginaw Spirit erased a two-goal, third period deficit with five unanswered goals to best the Sarnia Sting, 7-4 Friday night at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, Ontario.

Bloom, a draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres, led the way for Saginaw with his first career OHL hat trick and an assist, while Dean Loukus (1G-2A-3pts) and Calem Mangone (1G-1A-2pts) each recorded multi-point games. New York Islanders Tristan Lennox returned to the net for the Spirit after missing the previous three games, making 17 saves and earning the victory.

Despite an early opportunity on the power play for the Spirit, it was the Sting who would draw first blood. Alex Geci scored his first OHL on a shot from the slot that appeared to change directions on Lennox. Less than two minutes later, Nolan Burke scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season to put Sarnia in a 2-0 spread.

Sarnia would extend their lead to three goals on wrist shot past Lennox's glove side from the right circle at 8:24. Just 24 seconds later, Dean Loukus broke into the Sarnia zone and finished a nice pass by Pavel Mintyukov to give Saginaw life. While killing a penalty later in the period, T-Bone Codd sprung Josh Bloom on a breakaway for his second shorthanded goal of the season to bring the Spirit within one goal. At 17:14, Theo Hill scored his third goal of the season to give Sarnia a two-goal lead once again at 4-2.at 18:23 of the second period Max Namestnikov of the Sting was whistled for checking to the head and also given a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. This 4:00 power play would be instrumental in the Spirit third period comeback.

Saginaw would make good on their extended power play, when Calem Mnagone popped in this third goal of the year on a rebound from Cam Baber. Josh Bloom also picked up an assist on the goal. Bloom would score his second goal of the game on a breakaway at 5:38 set up by a quick breakout from defenseman Olivier Savard and Dean Loukus. The Spirit went into their first lead of the game at 10:13 on a goal from 2021 first round pick Luke McNamara. Calem Mangone made the play happen with a strong forecheck, steal, and pass out front to the Spirit Centerman. McNamara's second goal of the season would prove to be the game-winner, as Saginaw held the Sting the rest of the way and added insurance goals from Nick Wong (4) and Josh Bloom (5).

The Spirit return home Sat. November 6 to face the Sarnia Sting for the 14th annual First Responders Night presented by Fisher Companies. Team Police vs. Team Fire charity game will begin at 4:00 p.m. and puck drop between the Spirit and Sting is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. For tickets and more information, log on to www.saginawspirit.com
