Published on November 5, 2021 under Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Soo Greyhounds News Release
This morning Soo Greyhounds GM Kyle Raftis, along with Head Coach John Dean, announced the addition of TYE KARTYE to the club's Leadership Group for the 2021-22 season.
Kartye was named an Assistant Captain effective immediately.
The Kingston, ON native joins Ryan O'Rourke (Captain), Rory Kerins (Assistant) and Cole MacKay (Assistant) as part of the Program's leadership group for this 50th Anniversary Season.
'Tye sets the standard for what is expected of a Soo Greyhound both on and off the ice. He has always been a leader on this team, and stitching the A on his jersey acknowledges and emphasizes that fact. We're excited to have him join Ryan, Cole and Rory as our leadership group officially' said Head Coach John Dean.
Kartye, in his 3rd season with the Greyhounds, currently has 11 goals and 8 assists in eleven games played.
His nineteen points leads not only the Greyhounds, but the entire Ontario Hockey League heading into tonight's action against the Guelph Storm - while his 11 goals, 9 on the powerplay, lead the league as well.
A free agent invite to the Seattle Kraken's (NHL) Training Camp, Tye recorded his 1st-career hat trick earlier this year (Oct. 14 @ BAR).
O'Rourke, MacKay and Kerins were initially named to the Leadership Group two years ago during the 2019-20 season.
