Sarnia, ON - The Saginaw Spirit aim to get back in the win column Friday night with the first of a home-and-home series with the Sarnia Sting at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, Ontario. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.

Wednesday night in the Soo, the Spirit surrendered a season-high, eight goals in an 8-4 decision. The regulation loss was the first for the Spirit in five games to bring their record to 4-2-1-0. Saginaw received goals from Roberto Mancini (2), Nick Wong (3), Dalton Duhart (3), and Pacey Schlueting with his first OHL goal. Buffalo Sabres prospect Josh Bloom extended his points streak to five straight with an assist.

The Soo received two-goal efforts from rookie Tyler Savard and veteran defenseman Robert Calisti.

Sarnia has been scuffling as of late, winless in their last six contests. The Sting last hit the ice on October 30th, traveling to Owen Sound to face the Attack. Despite holding a two-goal lead in the second period, Sarnia was unable to hang on and surrendered the next three goals, falling 4-3.

Early-season bright spots for the Sting include Toronto Maple Leafs fifth round pick Ty Voit. Voit leads the team with eight points and has scored in six straight games. Undrafted 19-year-old Nolan Burke leads the team with six goals, but has been held off the scoresheet in the Sting's last two contests. On defense, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan native Ryan Mast has goals in back-to-back games. The Boston Bruins sixth round pick in 2021 leads Sting defensemen with three points coming into tonight's contest.

Sarnia is also the only team in the OHL to feature two goaltenders with NHL ties. San Jose Sharks third round pick in 2021, Ben Gaudreau has split time with Arizona Coyotes signee Anson Thornton this season, but it has not equaled to team success in large-part due to a lack of consistent scoring in front of them. The Sting's 19 goals for this season ranks last in the 20-team Ontario Hockey League.

Tonight is the first of eight meetings between the Spirit and the Sting during the 2021-22 season. This marks the first season since 2014-15 that the Spirit and Sting have met eight times. This is the 110th regular season meeting between the Spirit and the Sting, with Saginaw holding a 54-45-5-4 record with one tie. Saginaw has won five straight head-to-head battles with Sarnia, and have at least one point in nine straight meetings.

Fans can catch the TV broadcast of tonight's game live at Buffalo Wild Wings of Saginaw located at 2690 Tittabawassee Road. Buffalo Wild Wings is the official road game watch party host of the Saginaw Spirit. This and every game this season will also be broadcast live on the home for Spirit Hockey on the radio, 100.5 WSGW-FM and wsgw.com with the voices of Spirit Hockey, Joey Battaino and Dennis Desrosiers.

The Spirit return home Sat. November 6 to face the Sarnia Sting for the 14th annual First Responders Night presented by Fisher Companies. Team Police vs. Team Fire charity game will begin at 4:00 p.m. and puck drop between the Spirit and Sting is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. For tickets and more information, log on to www.saginawspirit.com.
