
Steelheads fall in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Idaho Steelheads (48-17-7) fell by a 2-1 score for the second night in a row to the Bakersfield Condors (38-29-5), but tonight the decision came in overtime.
Dan Kissel put Bakersfield on the board sixteen seconds into the first period when he took a pass from Maxime Macenauer and one-timed the puck into the Idaho goal to make the score 1-0.
At 0:45 of the second period, John Swanson tied the game for Idaho when he banged home a rebound from in front of the Bakersfield net. Evan Barlow and Brendan Milnamow assisted on the power play goal; Swanson's 23rd.
After the game remained 1-1 into overtime, Sasha Pokulok scored on a one-timer from the slot to beat Idaho's Rejean Beauchemin and give Bakersfield the 2-1 win.
Rejean Beauchemin stopped 25 of 27 shots in the loss; his record falls to 25-10-3. Timo Pielmeier improves to 27-22-5 with the win; he stopped 21 of 22 shots.
The Idaho Steelheads will be back in action when they begin the second round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs at Qwest Arena on April 16th.
