Steelheads' Ellis recalled to Dallas Stars

BOISE, Idaho - The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Dan Ellis from the Utah Grizzlies, the Stars' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Ellis was recalled to Utah from Idaho (ECHL) on January 13th.

As the Stars' second round selection (60th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Ellis played in three preseason outings with Dallas in 2003. In those three preseason games, he recorded a 1.50 goals against average, a .935 save percentage and stopped one penalty shot (Petr Nedved, New York Rangers).

With the Steelheads, the 6-0, 185-pound goaltender has played in 23. He recorded a 13-8-1 record with a 2.56 goals against average and a .909 save percentage with two shutouts.

With Utah, the 23-year-old has appeared in eight games this season, posting a 2-5-0 record with a 2.17 goals against average and a .940 save percentage with one shutout. In his last appearance with Utah, he stopped 31 of 33 shots on Friday night at Cincinnati, earning a 3-2 win.

The Stars' next game is on Wednesday, February 11th, 6:30 p.m. MST, against the New York Islanders.
