Beaumont, TX (February 9, 2004) â The Texas Wildcatters split their two-game homestand this weekend with the Florence Pride after falling to the Louisiana IceGators on Tuesday. After jumping ahead 3-0 against Louisiana Tuesday night, the IceGators responded with five unanswered goals to defeat the Wildcatters 5-3. Martin Masa netted a pair of goals against his former team while Brian Passmore recorded his 12th goal of the season. Wildcatters netminder Davis Parley suffered the loss, as he turned away 48 of the 53 shots he faced, including a penalty shot attempt by Alex Materukhin.
On Friday, Texas hosted the Florence Pride for the first of two meetings between the two teams this season. Four different players (Martin Masa, Tony Lawrence, Rae Metz, and Brian Passmore) lit the lamp for the Wildcatters in their 5-3 victory. Masa tallied two goals in the game to extend his point streak to four games. Parley picked up his 12th win of the year as he ended the game with 36 saves.
On Saturday, the Pride defeated the Wildcatters 4-3 to earn a split in the two-game series at Ford Arena. Rae Metz recorded two goals in the game to increase his point total to four (3g-1a) for the homestand. John Snowden also netted his team-leading 16th goal of the year in the defeat. Forward Ashlee Langdone assisted on all three Wildcatters goals. Netminder Mark Scally suffered the loss despite making 30 saves.
Player of the Week Nomination: Rae Metz ended the week a +2 with four points (3g-1a) in three games. The Kent, OH native picked up a goal and an assist in Friday night's victory over Florence and two goals in the losing effort against the Pride Saturday.
Goaltender of the Week Nomination: Davis Parley ended the week 1-1-0 with a .913 save percentage and a 4.00 goals against average. Parley also turned away 84 of the 92 shots he faced in the two games.
"We're Going Streaking!":
- Center Brian Passmore is currently on a five-game point streak in which he has recorded six points (3g-3a).
- Lethal Langdone- Forward Ashlee Langdone is currently on a two-game point streak in which he has recorded five points (0g-5a). Ashlee picked up two assists Friday night and three assists Saturday night against the Pride.
- Forward Rae Metz is currently on a two-game goal scoring streak in which he has recorded four points (3g-1a).
Best in the West: The Wildcatters will face the top three teams in the Western Conference this week. On Tuesday, the Nextel Cup continues as Texas takes on the Mississippi Sea Wolves, who is currently second place in the Central Division. The Sea Wolves lead the Nextel Cup series 6-1. Friday, the Central Division leading Louisiana IceGators head back to Ford Arena for the eleventh of fifteen meetings this season between the two teams. Saturday, Texas will host the Pacific Division leading San Diego Gulls at Ford Arena for the first time this season. The Gulls picked up a 4-3 win over the Wildcatters in their first match-up this season on January 6.
Point Producers: The Wildcatters had five players recorded two or more points in a game this weekend against Florence.
- Forward Rae Metz recorded four points (3g-1a). Metz had a goal and an assist Friday night and two goals Saturday night.
- Forward Ashlee Langdone had five assists. Two assists came in Friday night's game and the other three came Saturday.
- Forward John Snowden tallied three points (1g-2a). Snowden picked up both assists Friday night.
- Center Brian Passmore recorded three points (1g-2a). Passmore picked up a goal and an assist Friday.
- Left Wing Martin Masa netted two goals Friday night.
- Defenseman Rob Guinn tacked on two assists Friday night.
Texas Size Transaction: The Wildcatters signed defenseman Rob Davidson Monday. The 6'4", 225-pound Ontario native will wear # 26 for the team and is expected to be in the lineup Tuesday night against Mississippi.
Other Roster Moves:
- Texas Wildcatters Head Coach Robert Dirk announced Friday that the team traded defenseman Brad Fraser to the Augusta Lynx as part of three team, three-player deal. The Wildcatters acquired the rights to forward Josh Bennett from the Cincinnati Cyclones. The 23-year-old Bennett was traded from Augusta to Cincinnati on Wednesday but failed to report. He is currently in his second full season of professional hockey. As part of the trade, the Cyclones received defenseman Shawn Weiman from Augusta via the Wildcatters. Texas suspended Bennett Monday. The Wildcatters also released defenseman Wes Swinson.

All proceeds of the "Catters Crushes" auction will benefit Girls Haven.
Stepping Into the Spotlight: During Friday night's game, the Wildcatters will invite three area newscasters to handle the P.A. announcing. Lenny Ambrose is set to represent KBTV Channel 4, T.J. Donnell will represent KFDM Channel 6 and WB10, and T.W. Starr will represent KBMT Channel 12.
