The Week Ahead:

Thursday, February 12, 2004 @ Augusta 7:05 @ Augusta Civic Center

This will be the third game this season between the Stingrays and the Augusta Lynx. The Rays have a record of 1-2 this year against Augusta. The Stingrays have a road record of 13-7-2. Augusta is 12-9-3 at home.

Friday, February 13, 2004 Vs Charlotte 7:30 @ North Charleston Coliseum

The Stingrays have played the Checkers five times this season with a record of 3-2. Charlotte trails the Stingrays by two points for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Southern Division. This will be the last visit of the season for Charlotte.

The Stingrays lost their last time at Cricket Arena 6-1. The Checkers have a record of 24-19-6 with a home mark of 10-9-4. The Rays are 18-10-1 against teams in the Southern Division.

Tuesday, February 3, 2004 Stingrays 1 @ Charlotte 6

Charlotte snapped a three game losing skid against the Stingrays as with a six goal performance. Kirk Daubenspeck lost his first game in five starts.

Thursday, February 5, 2004 Stingrays 3 Vs Roanoke 2

The Stingrays had to use a shootout to sneak past Roanoke for the first time this season. Curtis Huppe netted the game winner for South Carolina.

Saturday, February 7, 2004 Stingrays 4 Vs Florida 1

Curtis Huppe had a goal and two assists and Kirk Daubenspeck beat the Everblades for the fourth consecutive time with 34 saves as the Rays jumped into third place for a day.

Sunday, February 8, 2004 Stingrays 1 Florida 3

The Everblades scored three unanswered goals to finish the season with two wins against South Carolina. Dave Seitz netted his fifth of the season and David Brumby started his fourth straight game without a win.

The Team:

The Stingrays are all alone in fourth place in the Southern Division with a record of 27-16-2. The Rays have multiple games in hand on every other team in the division. The Rays are 6-3-1 in their last ten games and are now 14-9-0 at home and 13-7-2 on the road. The Stingrays are 18-10-1 against teams in the Southern Division and 9-6-1 against the other divisions. The Rays are 3-1 in overtime games, 4-1 in shootout games and 12-1-1 in one goal games overall. When they score first, the Stingrays are 19-5-2. South Carolina has allowed just 2.62 goals against per game this season which ranks ninth in the league. Offensively the team is ranked 19th averaging 2.89 goals per game. The Rays power play is ranked 11th in the league at 18.5%.

The Players:

Kirk Daubenspeck beat Roanoke and Florida this week and now has a record of 21-8-3. He is among the league leaders with a goals against average of 2.47 and a save percentage of .924. At home, Daubenspeck is 13-4 with a 2.15 GAA. Curtis Huppe and Ed Courtenay lead the team in road goals with ten each. Courtenay leads the team with 18 goals and 43 points, while Huppe and Kevin Spiewak have 14 goals each. Huppe has six points in his last five games on three goals and three assists. Rookie Aaron Power has ten points on the power play on two goals and eight assists. Power has 12 points overall.
