Steelheads Break out the Black and Gold
February 28, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
(Boise, ID) - The ECHL's Idaho Steelheads will host their second fund-raising jersey auction of the season this weekend, wearing specially-themed, black and gold jerseys against the Las Vegas Wranglers on March 2 and 3.
The jerseys will feature the logo of the University of Idaho. The team's previous jersey auction in January featured blue and orange jerseys with the logo of Boise State University on the shoulders.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from this weekend's jersey auction will benefit St. Luke's MSTI Pediatrics Unit and St. Luke's Elks Children's Rehab.
"We have a lot of hockey fans in the valley that are U of I alums," Team President Eric Trapp said. "They've been asking for a couple of years when we were going to do a Vandal-themed specialty jersey, so we're excited to give them a chance to bid on one."
The jerseys will be bid off via silent auction on the CenturyLink Arena concourse behind Section 113, directly across from the main entrance, during the games with bids closing at the end of the second intermission Saturday night. Bids open at $200 and fans can purchase the jersey of their favorite player outright for $1,500. Fans that place the winning bids can pick up the game-worn jersey from the players on the ice immediately following Saturday's game. All of the money raised goes directly to the two non-profit organizations.
The Steelheads have been doing charitable jersey auctions since the 1997-98 season, raising $370,000 for local charities and non-profit organizations in that time.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim's Cascade Chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
