Stewart Assigned to Jackals

The Elmira Jackals announced on Tuesday that goaltender Brian Stewart has been assigned to the club by its AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Stewart, a second-year pro from Burnaby, British Columbia, is 18-10-1-0 with the Jackals this season, posting a .912 save percentage and a 2.89 goals-against average. The 27-year-old was named the ECHL's Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 28 - Dec. 4. This is Stewart's eighth assignment to Elmira in 2011-2012. He has not participated in a game with the B-Sens in 2011-2012.

The Jackals also announced that they have released forward Martin Moucha and emergency backup goaltender Nick Niedert.

Moucha, a second-year pro, has an assist in six games with the Jackals this season. Niedert, an eighth-year pro, is 2-0-0-0 with Elmira this season, notching a .904 save percentage and a 2.07 goals-against average.
