Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - Jason Wilson's third period goal broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Greenville Road Warriors (34-20-2-2) over the Cincinnati Cyclones (26-21-1-7) by a 2-1 final score in front of 2.022 at U.S. Bank Arena on Tuesday Night.
Anthony Luciani gave the Cyclones a very early lead as, at 1:07 of the opening period, he poked a loose puck through Greenville goalie Jason Missiaen (W, 23 saves, 16-12-0-2), making it 1-0. And thanks to 10 first period saves from Cyclones netminder Brian Foster (L, 29 saves, 11-6-0-1), Cincinnati held a 1-0 cushion after 20 minutes.
Greenville answered back with a goal of its own at 5:29 of the middle stanza as Brandon Wong forced a bouncing puck past Foster to knot things at one via a power play strike. In a period where the Cyclones were outshot 10-3, the frame ended in a 1-1 deadlock.
The Road Warriors broke the tie right off of an offensive zone faceoff as Jason Wilson lit the lamp with a high wrist shot at 5:16 of the third period, giving Greenville a one-goal edge. Despite a flurry of late chances for the Cyclones in the final minutes, they were unable to beat Missiaen again, and fell by the 2-1 score.
