Brampton Steelheads News Release

Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga Steelheads announced today that they have acquired forward Mason Marchment, as well as a third round pick in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection from the Hamilton Bulldogs. In exchange, Hamilton will receive forward Luke Kutkevicius and a seventh round pick in 2016.

Marchment, a native of Uxbridge, Ontario, joined the Erie Otters for the 2014-15 OHL season following a 43-point campaign with the OJHL's Cobourg Cougars in 2013-14. In his rookie season, Mason scored 8 goals and added 18 assists in 54 games with the Otters, before picking up an assist in the postseason. Earlier this season he was acquired by the Hamilton Bulldogs, where he has since appeared in 33 games, scoring 8 goals and picking up 23 assists to lead the Bulldogs in scoring.

Mason comes from a strong hockey family, as his father Bryan is a veteran of four OHL seasons with the Belleville Bulls (1985-1989), as well as 17 seasons in the National Hockey League (Winnipeg, Chicago, Hartford, Edmonton, Tampa Bay, San Jose, Colorado, Toronto, Calgary). Mason's cousin Jake, a Los Angeles Kings prospect, also currently stars in Erie, wearing an "A" for the Otters.

Luke Kutkevicius was drafted by the Steelheads in the second round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection from the North York Rangers. Seeing his first OHL action this season, Luke has appeared in 40 games for Mississauga, scoring 2 goals and adding 9 assists.

The Steelheads are excited to welcome Mason and the Marchment family to Mississauga, and wish Luke the best of luck in Hamilton.
