Staten Island Yankees News Release

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-The Staten Island Yankees fell 6-5 to the Hudson Valley Renegades on Thursday night at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

Hudson Valley got off to a good start scoring three runs in the first inning, two of which scored on an error by Andres Chaparro. The Renegades added another run in the second inning to make it 4-0.

Jake Sanford's second inning home run gave the Yankees their first run, but two fourth inning runs gave the Renegades a 6-1 lead.

However, Staten Island would respond again. A sacrifice fly by Pat DeMarco made it 6-2 in the fifth inning.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Sanford came up big again with a three-run home run to make it 6-5, but the Yankees could not rally again in the ninth inning.

Despite the loss, Staten Island did make history by turning the team's first ever triple play in the 20-year history of the Baby Bombers.

The Yankees and Renegades return to Richmond County Bank Ballpark tomorrow night for the rubber game of this three-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
