RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond Flying Squirrels scored four runs in the first and received eight scoreless innings from their bullpen to beat the Binghamton Mets, 6-1, on Friday night at The Diamond. Five Squirrels relievers, led by Jose Cosilla, handcuffed the B-Mets after starter Joe Biagini exited in the second with an injury. The Squirrels roughed up Seth Lugo early, snapping the righty's four-game winning streak.

The Squirrels wasted no time cracking the scoreboard against Lugo in the first inning. After retiring the leadoff hitter, Lugo allowed five straight to reach. Following a bases-loaded walk to Ricky Oropesa, Mitch Delfino stroked a two-run single into right-center. Jackson Williams capped the inning with an RBI single.

Richmond sent nine batters to the plate in the first, but suffered a rough blow in the second. Biagini surrendered a leadoff triple to Brock Peterson and threw three balls to Joe Benson before leaving the game with an injury.

Casilla took over for the injured starter and allowed an RBI single to Xorge Carrillo before shutting the B-Mets down. The righty worked around a single in the third and side-stepped another hit in a blank fourth.

Hunter Cole padded Richmond's lead with an RBI single in the second before Lugo settled down. The righty retired 13 of the next 14 Squirrels he faced. An innocuous single to Schroeder in the fourth was the only blemish during the stretch.

Kyle Crick kept the good times rolling for the Richmond relievers. The righty struck out three and stranded two in a scoreless fifth. Braulio Lara supplied two perfect innings before Phil McCormick worked a shutout eighth. Derek Law close the bullpen's big night with a scoreless ninth.

Lugo (6-5) allowed six runs on a season-high nine hits in the defeat and suffered his first loss since June 20. Casilla (3-5) went a season-long three innings in the victory.

The B-Mets (58-47) continue their visit to Richmond on Saturday night at 6:05 PM. RHP Gabriel Ynoa faces RHP Tyler Beede in the third game of the series. POSTGAME NOTES: B-Mets starter Michael Fulmer was traded prior to the game along with former B-Mets Luis Cessa to the Tigers in exchange for Yoenis Cespedes...Binghamton had their three-game winning streak snapped...Binghamton went 19-10 in the month of July
