
Rodriguez sharp in first win as a starter

Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Fightin Phils (57-49) got a quality start from Joely Rodriguez (3-2) and saw Stephen Shackleford inch closer to making history as they defeated New Hampshire (54-49) 5-3 on Friday night. The lineup recorded nine hits and and saw multiple hit games from three players.
KC Hobson gave the Fisher Cats a 1-0 lead with a RBI single off Joely Rodriguez in the bottom of the first inning. Kelly Dugan tied the game at 1-1 with a RBI single off Casey Lawrence in the top of the third inning. Cameron Perkins gave Reading a 2-1 lead with a RBI double off Lawrence in the third as Angelo Mora scored the go-ahead run.
The Fightins extended their lead to 5-1 over the Lawrence and the Fisher Cats in the top of the fourth inning as Harold Martinez and Angelo Mora hit RBI singles that scored Destin Hood and Art Charles. JP Crawford hit a sacrifice fly for the third run of the inning that scored Martinez.
Matt Newman hit a RBI single off Rodriguez in the bottom of the seventh inning that cut Reading's lead to 5-2. Rodriguez left the game after 6 1/3 innings. Ryan O'Sullivan entered the game and got Christian Lopes to ground into an inning-ending double play. Rodriguez allowed two runs off seven hits and two walks with one strikeout.
Albright College alum Casey Lawrence allowed five runs off nine hits and two walks in seven innings with six strikeouts. Luis Perez entered the game in the top of the eighth inning. The Fisher Cats scored a run off O'Sullivan in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut the Fightin Phils lead to 5-3.
Stephen Shackleford entered the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. He retired the side for his 23rd save of the season tying him with Don Carmen who recorded 23 saves back in 1983.
The Fightin Phils and Fisher Cats will play on Saturday night. First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 6:35 pm.
