July 29, 2015 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters dropped a high scoring game against the Lowell Spinners on Wednesday night at Susquehanna Bank Park. The Cutters took an early 3-0 lead in the game but would have to battle from behind a majority of the game. Lowell used a seven run fourth inning to take a commanding 7-3 lead.
The Cutters would start to chip away at the deficit in the bottom of the fifth inning against Lowell starter Luis Ramos. Williamsport scored three runs on two hits to cut the Spinners lead to 7-6. Austin Bossart highlighted the inning with a RBI double to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. Jesus Posso would send the home crowd into a frenzy in the bottom of the sixth inning as his third home run of the season tied the game 7-7.
Williamsport had their chances on the night as they would strand 11 runners on base including a bases loaded situation in the third inning. Franklyn Kilome would not factor into a decision in his second start back from injury. Kilome went 3.1 innings allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit. Kilome also struck out four batters while walking three. Feliberto Sanchez calmed things down defensively for the Cutters tossing two scoreless innings of relief.
Lowell rallied with three runs in the top of the ninth inning against Cutters reliever Kenny Koplove. The Spinners started the inning off with a triple that would be followed by a walk and a two RBI single from Tate Matheny. With the Cutters trailing 10-7 entering the home half of the inning, a rally would not be in the crystal ball as Taylor Nunez worked a clean inning to close out the game. The Cutters fall to 25-13 on the season and will look to take game three of the series tomorrow night against Lowell with first pitch at 7:05 P.M.
