Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins didn't need any five-on-five goal to dispatch of the Binghamton Senators, 3-2, in overtime on Friday night at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.

Kael Mouillierat, Carter Rowney, and Tom Kostopoulos all put forth two-point performances in a game filled with special teams tallies.

Binghamton scored the game's first goal at 13:49 of the first period when Michael Keränen walked in from the half-wall and beat Tristan Jarry on the power play.

Kostopoulos answered with a two-man advantage marker with 2:11 left in the opening frame after being brilliantly set up by Mouillierat and Rowney. With the goal and an assist on the play, Kostopoulos and Rowney extended their point streaks to eight and nine games, respectively.

In the second period, the two teams traded power play goals yet again.

Casey Bailey gave Binghamton a 2-1 lead at 11:46 of the second period. Once more Kostopoulos netted a tying goal, making it 2-2 with 2:05 left in the middle frame. Jake Guentzel, playing in his second professional game, earned his first AHL point with an assist on Kostopoulos' second goal.

Thrilling end-to-end, head-turning action in the third period resulted in 19 shots between the two teams, but no goals as Jarry and Matt O'Connor stood strong between the pipes at both ends of the ice.

In the sudden death overtime period, a yeoman's shift from Barry Goers resulted in the defenseman rocketing a shot off of the crossbar, only for Mouillierat to dive after the loose puck sitting on the goal line and swat it into the back of the cage for the game-winning goal at 2:12 of the extra frame.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton went two-for-four on its power play opportunities in the game, while Binghamton was two-for-five.

Jarry locked up his fourth win in a row with 17 saves. At the opposite crease, O'Connor denied the Penguins on 31 of their 34 shots.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's next game is tomorrow, Saturday, Mar. 26, at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza against the Providence Bruins. Puck drop for the Pens and P-Bruins is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
