Paterson Reassigned to Toledo by Detroit

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings have reassigned goaltender Jake Paterson to the ECHL's Toledo Walleye from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

In his second career AHL start, Paterson recorded 39 saves in Grand Rapids' 2-0 loss at San Antonio last Sunday.

In two games for the Griffins this season, Paterson shows a 3.11 goals against average, a 0.928 save percentage and a 0-2-0 record.

Detroit's second choice (80th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Paterson has appeared in 26 games with the Walleye during his first professional season. The Mississauga, Ontario, native ranks eighth among ECHL goaltenders in goals against average (2.21) and is tied for fifth in save percentage (0.925) while showing a 14-9-1-1 record. He was named the ECHL's goaltender of the week on Feb. 2 following a week in which he posted a 0.99 GAA, a 0.966 save percentage and a shutout during a pair of Walleye victories.

Paterson, 21, split time with three teams during the 2014-15 season. In 24 games with the Ontario Hockey League's Saginaw Spirit, he accumulated a 12-11-1 record, a 3.48 GAA, and a 0.905 save percentage before being traded to the Kitchener Rangers. In 26 games with the Rangers, he amassed a 14-10-2 record along with a 2.37 GAA and a 0.929 save percentage. Paterson made his professional debut with the Walleye in a relief effort on April 11 against Kalamazoo before earning his first professional victory behind 32 saves on April 12 against Kalamazoo.

Following a five-game road trip, the Griffins will return to Van Andel Arena on Saturday to face the Lake Erie Monsters at 7 p.m.
