Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers today announced that they have signed defenseman Zach Miskovic to a professional tryout contract.

Miskovic, a 30-year-old veteran of 280 AHL games with Hershey, Chicago, San Antonio, Rockford and Iowa, joins the Checkers from the ECHL's Indy Fuel, where he served as team captain. With the Fuel, the 6-foot-1, 197-pound native of River Forest, IL, ranked second among team defensemen with 22 points (9g, 13a) and second among all skaters with 53 penalty minutes in 63 games.

Should Miskovic play in the Checkers' next game in Manitoba on Saturday, it would mark the seventh consecutive season that he has played in the AHL. Over the course of his time in the league, Miskovic posted 79 points (22g, 57a) and 208 penalty minutes.

Saturday's meeting with Manitoba and a Monday rematch mark the end of the Checkers' seven-game road trip. The team, which currently sits in playoff position with 10 games remaining, will play its final six home games of the regular season at Bojangles' Coliseum in a 10-day span starting Friday, April 1.
