South Carolina Ties ECHL Record with 17th Consecutive Win

March 13, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release

PRINCETON, N.J. - The South Carolina Stingrays tied the ECHL record with their 17th consecutive win, and in the process set a new League record with their 11th straight road victory, with a 4-0 win at Gwinnett on Friday.

The 17 straight wins ties the record originally set by the Cincinnati Cyclones from Jan. 13-Feb. 29, 2008.

The Stingrays' streak began with a 7-1 win at Greenville on Feb. 7 and has seen the team outscore its opponents (ENTERING FRIDAY 68-25) during the streak.

While the 17 straight wins is tied for longest winning streak in regular-season play in the ECHL's 27-year history, the Stingrays have a chance to match the longest winning streak ever in the League when they host Gwinnett on Saturday. The Las Vegas Wranglers won 18 straight games - 13 in the regular season and five in the playoffs - from March 10 through April 22, 2007.
