South Bend, IN - The South Bend Silver Hawks continued their dominance of the Fort Wayne TinCaps Wednesday night, scoring a 4-3 win over Fort Wayne. The victory for the Silver Hawks was their 10th in 11 tries against the TinCaps this season.

South Bend (53-30) bashed its way to an early lead with a first-inning two-run home run off the bat of Rudy Flores. Flores' two-out blast narrowly cleared the wall in left center-field, as it propelled the Silver Hawks to a lead that would hold until the fourth inning.

After striking out seven batters in the first three innings, South Bend starter Daniel Watts finally proved himself human in the fourth, as he allowed RBI singles to Diego Goris and Rodney Daal. Those hits tied the game at two, and Fort Wayne (3-10, 46-36) took a 3-2 lead on an RBI single by Chris Burke in the fifth inning.

TinCaps starter Zach Eflin (4-5) surrendered another two-out hit, though, in the bottom of the sixth, on a two-run double by Roidany Aguila, which put South Bend back in front, 4-3.

For the second straight night, Fort Wayne had late-inning chances to score. In the eighth inning, Luis Tejada led off with a double to right field, and Luis Domoromo followed with a single to center. Tejada, trying to score from second, was ruled out by home plate umpire Chase Eade, which negated the potential tying run.

In the ninth inning, Brian Adams led off by reaching on a throwing error by pitcher Enrique Burgos, but the trio of Everth Cabrera, Mallex Smith and Diego Goris could not hit a ball out of the infield to get him home.

Fort Wayne's returns home Thursday night as they face South Bend at 7:05 PM. The scheduled starters are Max Fried for Fort Wayne and Jesse Darrah for South Bend. The game can be seen on XFINITY 81 and heard on The Fan 1380 and TheFanFortWayne.com.

Note: In his major league injury rehabilitation assignment, Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera went 0-4 in five plate appearances, striking out four times and walking once. He started at shortstop and hit leadoff.
