
South Bay Drops Road Game in Texas

FRISCO, TX - The South Bay Lakers couldn't sweep their road trip as they fell to the Texas Legends 122-105 on Wednesday night. Marcus Allen matched his career-high with 23 points for South Bay (14-23), but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Daryl Macon scored 26 points for the Legends (13-25) in the victory.
The Legends grabbed an early 21-17 lead after the first quarter, despite six points in the frame from Allen. Texas maintained their four-point lead, 45-41, at halftime behind eight points in the second quarter from Xavier Rathan-Mayes. Johnathan Williams scored nine first-half points to keep the Lakers within striking distance.
The Legends took control in the third quarter, behind 17 points in the frame from Macon, as they took an 87-68 lead through three. South Bay kept battling in the fourth quarter, as Allen and Derrick Griffin Jr. combined for 21 points, but Texas hung on for the win.
Macon's game-high 26 points paced Texas as Keith Hornsby finished with 22 points. Kostas Antetokounmpo tallied a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Vander Blue scored 11 points off the bench. Donte Ingram (13 points) and Rathan-Mayes (12 points) also scored in double figures.
Allen's big night led the Lakers and Scott Machado added 17 points off the bench. Williams finished with 12 points and seven rebounds and Alex Caruso tallied 11 points. Justin Harper (11 points) and Griffin Jr. (10 points) also reached double-digit scoring for the Lakers.
South Bay will return to action on Wednesday, February 20 when they take on the Northern Arizona Suns at 5:30pm PT from the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, AZ.
