
Sound Tigers Up Home Win Streak To Four

The Sound Tigers improved their home-ice win streak to four games with a 4-1 victory over the Hershey Bears Wednesday before losing a pair of road games, 5-1 to the Binghamton Senators Friday and 4-3 in overtime to the Portland Pirates Saturday. They finished last week in fifth place in the East Division with 29 points and a 14-12-1 record, including 12-2 at home and 2-10-1 on the road.
WED DEC 15th vs. HER, 4-1 W: The line of JUSTIN PAPINEAU, KEVIN COLLEY and ROB COLLINS had a big night with two goals and five points. After RYAN KRAFT opened the scoring early in the first period, Papineau made it 2-0 late in the opening frame. CHRIS CAMPOLI and Collins then scored in the second period with Hershey sandwiching a power-play goal in between the pair of two-goal runs. The Sound Tigers outshot the Bears 36-23, including 17-6 in the first period with Hershey going shotless for the first 12:46 of play. The Bears 1 for 3 on the power play while the Sound Tigers did not have an advantage. WADE DUBIELEWICZ made 22 saves to earn the win.
FRI DEC 17th at BIN, 5-1 L: ANTOINE VERMETTE and BRANDON BOCHENSKI gave Binghamton a 2-0 lead. KEVIN COLLEY pulled the Sound Tigers to within 2-1 by the end of the second period before CHRIS KELLY scored third-period goals 1:12 apart, and JOSH LANGFELD capped the scoring 1:26 later. Vermette and ANTON VOLCHENKOV had two assists apiece. RAY EMERY made 38 saves as the Sound Tigers had a 39-38 shots on goal advantage. DIETER KOCHAN made 33 saves. The Sound Tigers were 0 for 4 on the power play while the Senators were 2 for 4.
SAT DEC 18th at POR, 4-3 OTL: Skating two players short due to injuries, the Sound Tigers jumped out to a 3-1 lead on goals by CHRIS CAMPOLI (shorthanded), GRAHAM BELAK (power play) and RYAN KRAFT, but Portland rallied with a pair of third-period tallies, including the tying goal from BOYD GORDON who also scored 42 seconds into overtime. STEVE REGIER assisted on two Sound Tigers goals. WADE DUBIELEWICZ made 20 saves. The Sound Tigers were 1 for 2 on the power play and had a 30-24 shots on goal advantage. The Pirates were 1 for 5 on the power play.
SOUND TIGERS PLAYER OF THE WEEK â D CHRIS CAMPOLI Campoli notched a pair of one-goal, one-assist games last week The North York, Ontario native upped an assist streak to five games Wednesday and opened the scoring Saturday with a shorthanded goal after being held pointless Friday. Campoli leads all Sound Tigers rookies with 10 assists and 13 points and is tied for the lead among the team's freshman with three goals in 26 games this season.
THIS WEEK â Four Game Holiday Home Stand Begins The Sound Tigers will begin a four-game, holiday, home-stand with three games this week. They will host the Worcester IceCats Monday, the Philadelphia Phantoms Wednesday and the Hartford Wolf Pack Sunday.
MON DEC 20th vs. WOR, 7:05 p.m.: This will be the second of four meetings of the teams this season, the first of two at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard. The Sound Tigers are 6-2-1 all-time versus Worcester, 0-1 this season and 1-0 on home ice last year. The IceCats finished last week in fourth place in the Atlantic Division with 35 points and a 16-9-1-2 record, including 5-5-0-1 on the road.
WED DEC 22nd vs. PHI, 7:05 p.m.: This will be the fourth of eight meetings of the teams this season, the second of four in Bridgeport. The Sound Tigers are 8-9-2 all-time, 1-2 this season, versus Philadelphia. The Phantoms finished last week in first place in the East Division with 44 points and a 21-5-1-1 record, including 7-4 on the road. They do not play again until Wednesday.
SUN DEC 26th vs. HAR, 4:05 p.m.: This will be the fourth of ten meetings of the teams this season, the third of five in Bridgeport. The Sound Tigers are 18-12-3 all-time versus Hartford, including 1-2 this season with a 3-1 home win the day after Thanksgiving in the most recent game. Sunday's game will also be the fourth contest of the 2004-05 GEICO CONNECTICUT CUP. The Wolf Pack finished last week in second place in the Atlantic Division with 43 points and a 20-7-1-2 record, including 6-4-1-1 on the road. They do not play again until Sunday.

The Sound Tigers will practice at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard Tuesday at 11 a.m. and Wednesday at 10 a.m. They will be off for the Christmas holiday this Thursday, Friday and Saturday and return for practice Sunday at 9 a.m. before hosting Hartford at 4:05 p.m.
