River Rats have holiday deja vu with Binghamton

The Albany River Rats will visit Central New York for a pair of games against the Binghamton Senators surrounding the Christmas Holiday. The East Division rivals will face-off on Wednesday, December 22nd at 7:05pm and again on Sunday, December 26th in a 5:05pm start from the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The Senators (14-12-3-2, 4th East) defeated the Philadelphia Phantoms 3-2 in a shootout in the road last night. C Jason Spezza leads the American Hockey League with 29 assists and stands third on the circuit with 38 points this season. LW Denis Hamel paces the top affiliate of the Ottawa Senators with 16 goals, including six on the power play in 31 games during the 20004-05 campaign. Albany holds a 6-10-3-2 record in the all-time regular season series against Binghamton, including a 2-5-2-1 mark on the road. The River Rats lead the 2004-05 season series 3-0, outscoring the Senators 12-6 and are led individually by RW Aleksander Suglobov's seven (4-3) points. The East Division rivals meet five more times on January 29th in Binghamton, February 12th and 25th in Albany, on March 5th in Binghamton and finally on March 12th at Pepsi Arena.

Rat Bites: * C Zach Parise had a three-game assist streak snapped on Saturday in Springfield but continues to lead the River Rats with 17 assists and 22 points during the 2004-05 season.

* The River Rats scored a power play goal in each of their three games last week and are outscoring the opposition 26-20 in the third period during the 2004-05 campaign.

* C Pascal Rheaume, who scored in three straight games last week, moved past Ken Sutton into eighth place on the all-time games played list by skating in his 280th River Rat game on Friday. He also moved into a second place tie with LW Eric Bertrand by scoring his 24th career power play goal in an Albany uniform on Saturday.

Mon., December 20th @ 5:00pm - C Pascal Rheaume and D Steven Spencer will attend at Troy-Albany Youth Hockey practice from 5-6pm to help young players develop their hockey skills. The practice will be held at Frear Park Arena located on Lavin Court & Park Boulevard in Troy.

Tues., December 21st @ 1:30pm - D Alex Brooks and LW Rob Skrlac will attend Fort Plain Elementary School to be guest speakers at a school assembly highlighting the importance of school and staying away from drug and violence. Fort Plain Elementary School is located at 25 High Street in Fort Plains.

River Rats Rewind: Week 10 - December 13, 2004 (0-3-0-0, 0pts)

December 15th - ALB 1 @ WBS 7 - C Kris Beech notched his second straight four point performance and Troy native Matt Murley added his second consecutive three point night as the Penguins salvaged their third and final home game against Albany. River Rat C Pascal Rheaume scored a power play goal and G Scott Clemmensen stopped 29 shots in defeat.

December 17th - ALB 2 @ HER 4 - LW David Masse scored a hat trick of power play goals as Hershey recorded its third win against the River Rats this season. Albany LW Ahren Nittel scored for the third time in five games, while Captain Pascal Rheaume scored for the second straight contest. C Zach Parise added an assist on Nittel's goal to give him helpers in three straight games.

December 18th - ALB 1 @ SPR 3 - Former River Rat C Craig Darby recorded a goal and an assist as the Falcons snapped a seven-game losing streak. Albany C Pascal Rheaume scored for the third straight game, but the River Rats remained winless (0-3-0-0) on their current five-game road trip.
