
Admirals down Manchester, struggle in Texas

Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, VA - The Admirals began the week on Wednesday, December 15th, with a midday 5-4 home shootout win over league-leading Manchester. The next night, the team played in Houston where they were shutout for the first time this season by the Aeros, 2-0. On Saturday, December 18, Houston again defeated Norfolk, this time winning 4-3 in a shootout. The Admirals ended the week with a 3-2 loss in San Antonio.
This week, Norfolk has games in San Antonio on Tuesday, December 21st and Hershey on Sunday, December 26th.
STANDINGS
Norfolk is in third place in the East with 34 points (15-13-1-3), trailing Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in second (14-8-4-3, 35 pts) and Philadelphia (21-5-1-1, 44 pts) in first place. Binghamton is fourth (14-12-3-2, 33 pts), followed by Bridgeport (14-12-1-0, 29 pts), Hershey (13-17-1-0, 27 points) and Albany (9-13-4-3, 25 pts) in last place.

ADMIRALS NOTEBOOK
· Norfolk notched two shorthanded goals (Laing, Thornton) on December 15. It was the first time the Admirals have lit the lamp twice in one game while on the penalty kill since March 23, 2003.
· Norfolk registered four shorthanded goals this week, getting two from LW Quintin Laing, one from RW Shawn Thornton and one from LW Rene Bourque.
· Both D Anton Babchuck and LW Matt Ellison appeared in their 100th AHL career game, also their 100th as Admirals, on December 15, versus Manchester. Each player also picked up a goal and an assist in the 5-4 win.
· D Marty Wilford picked up his 150th AHL career assist on December 18, at Houston.
· Rookie LW Rene Bourque contributed both of Norfolk's goals on December 19, including his first AHL shorthanded tally.
· Also on Sunday, December 20th, Quintin Laing skated in his 250th AHL contest, also his 250th as an Admiral.
