BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, tied the Lowell Lock Monsters 3-3 at home Friday in front of 5,169 fans who braved yet another winter storm. The game was highlighted by one power-play goal for each team, with Lowell notching its on a major advantage to tie the game in the third period, as well as a shorthanded, go-ahead goal for the Sound Tigers and a pair of near misses, one for each team, in the third period.

The Lock Monsters took a 1-0 lead 8:40 into the game on the 11th goal of the season by All-Star Mike Zigomanis off an assist from Matt Davidson. The goal was scored on Lowell's first shot of the contest.

The Sound Tigers tied the score at 1-1 just 1:32 later on a power-play goal by Ryan Kraft, his eight marker overall on the season, off assists from Justin Mapletoft and Brent Gauvreau. Kraft is now on a three-game goal streak and a four-game point streak.

The Lock Monsters regained a 2-1 lead 7:56 into the middle frame on a delayed-penalty goal by Brad Fast, his seventh tally of the season, off assists from Ryan Bayda and Zigomanis, but the Sound Tigers took their first lead of the contest with a pair of goals in a 3:04 span late in the second period.

Gauvreau tied the game at 2-2 at the 14:10 mark with his second goal of the year off assists from Kevin Colley and Derek Bekar. Colley is now on a five-game point streak. Kraft then made it 3-2 at 17:14 with a shorthanded goal, his second marker of the game and ninth overall on the season, off an assist from Alan Letang.

Lowell appeared to tie the game on the power play in the opening minute of the third period, but Sound Tigers All-Star Goaltender Wade Dubielewicz was able to reach behind himself and grab the puck before it crossed the goal line. However, the Lock Monsters would eventually knot the score at 3-3 while on the advantage.

With the Sound Tigers Justin Mapletoft serving a five-minute major and a game misconduct for elbowing, Davidson scored his eighth goal of the season off an assist from Zigomanis with 5:48 left to play. It was then the Sound Tigers turn to have a goal denied by fractions of an inch.

With just under two minutes left in regulation, Captain Alan Letang fired a shot from the left point that found its way through traffic and past Lowell Netminder Dany Sabourin, but Lock Monsters Defenseman Sean Curry fished the puck out of the crease with only a sliver of it remaining on the goal line.

The teams then played a scoreless overtime although Referee Brian Pochmara did whistle one set of coincidental minor penalties mid-way through the extra session.

Kraft was the first star of the game, Davidson the second, and Zigomanis the third. Dubielewicz upped an unbeaten streak to three games at 1-0-2 with 18 saves while Sabourin improved a similar run to four games at 2-0-2 with 26 stops as the Sound Tigers outshot Lowell 29-21. Both teams were 1 for 5 on the power play.
