Blatny, Foster Return to Chicago

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned left wing Zdenek Blatny and defenseman Kurtis Foster to the Chicago Wolves.

Blatny tallied three goals and six penalty minutes in his National Hockey League career season-high 16 games. The 22-year-old forward notched his first NHL point on Dec. 31 with a goal against the Detroit Red Wings. Overall, Blatny has appeared in 20 NHL games spanning the last two seasons, which includes his NHL debut with the Thrashers against the Dallas Stars on March 19, 2003.

Blatny, who has tallied a professional career-high 13 assists with the Wolves this season, has posted 19 points overall with Chicago.

Last year, Blatny shared 10th on the Wolves with a professional career-high 12 goals and ranked 13th with 21 points in 72 games.

Foster, who was recalled by Atlanta yesterday, has posted one point in three games with Atlanta, which includes his first NHL assist on Tuesday against the Boston Bruins. Overall, Foster has registered one point in four NHL games spanning the last two seasons (2002-2004)

The Carp, Ontario, native leads American Hockey League blueliners with seven power-play goals this season, and ranks second among AHL defensemen with nine goals.
