Falcons sign RW Nick Lent to PTO

Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that the club has signed right wing Nick Lent to a professional tryout agreement. The forward will be available to play for the Falcons tonight when the team hosts the Manchester Monarchs at the Springfield Civic Center.

Lent, 26, registered 17 points (7g, 10a) and 51 penalty minutes (PIM) in 44 games with the Reading Royals of the ECHL this season. The 6'5", 225-pound forward had been acquired by the Greenville Grrrowl in a trade with Reading on Tuesday, but had not yet skated in a game with the team.

Lent played for the ECHL's Richmond Renegades last season where he skated for current Falcons assistant coach Gord Dineen and posted career highs in goals (24), assists (18), and points (42) in 54 contests. Lent also played three games with the AHL's Portland Pirates last season.

Lent was an eighth round selection (200th overall) of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, but did not sign with the club. The Westwood, Massachusetts native recorded 46 points (26g, 20a) and 140 PIM in 133 games over seasons at Providence College from the 1996-97 season to 1999-00.
