BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, lost 7-5 at home to the Manchester Monarchs Friday.
Steve Regier gave the Sound Tigers a 1-0 lead 11:09 into the game with his first goal of the season off assists from Travis Brigley and Evgeny Tunik, his first point with the team.
Rob Collins doubled the advantage to 2-0 4:38 later when he notched his fourth goal of the year on a penalty shot. Collins was hooked by Manchester's Brad Fast while he had a clear path to the Monarchs net, which resulted in referee Chris Ciamaga's call.
Manchester cut the lead to 2-1 on Konstantin Pushkarev's third tally of the season, on the power play, off assists from Marty Wilford and Lauri Tukonen with 2:04 left in the opening period.
The Sound Tigers regained the two-goal advantage at 3-1 when Wyatt Smith scored for the second game in a row, and upped an overall point streak to five games, off assists from Luch Aquino and Regier 5:41 into the second period, but the Monarchs started a four-goal rally just 1:51 later.
