Bears rally to defeat Phantoms 2-1

The Hershey Bears and Philadelphia began their 12 game season series tonight in Philadelphia. After a scoreless first period at the Wachovia Spectrum, the Bears and Phantoms trade goals in the second period. Triston Grant of Philadelphia would break the deadlock at the 3:38 mark with his first professional goal. Jonas Johansson evened the contest at 7:52, tallying his first goal of the season for the Bears, unassisted. The Bears and Phantoms finish the second period tied 1-1.

Joey Tenute fired a shot by Phantom goalie Rejean Beauchemin at 7:08 of the third period for his fifth goal of the year to give the Bears a 2-1 lead they would never relinquish. Jonas Johansson and Jakub Cutta assisted on the game-winning tally.

Freddy Cassivi gets his fifth win of the year, stopping 25 of 26 Phantom shots. It is the Bears first win at the Wachovia Spectrum for the first time since February 23, 2003.

The BEARS will host Springfield Saturday night at GIANT Center at 7:00 p.m.
