
Rampage's Gainey recalled by Phoenix Coyotes

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 4, 2005) - The San Antonio Rampage announced today that their parent club, the Phoenix Coyotes, have recalled left wing Steve Gainey from the American Hockey League team and signed him to a one-year deal.
Gainey, 26, ranks 14th (tied) among AHL scorers having played in all 12 games this season for the Rampage. He leads the club in goals (6) and points (12), and ranks tied for 1st on the club in assists. His three power-play goals this season are second on the club.
The Montreal, Quebec native, who signed a professional tryout offer with San Antonio on Oct. 4, has been held scoreless in only three games having two scoring streaks. The 6-0, 180-pound forward had a five-game scoring streak, collecting five points (3-2=5) from Oct. 16-28. He also scored seven points (3-4=7) in a four-game span from Oct. 7-14.
In his NHL career, Gainey has registered one point (0-1=1) in 13 games with the Dallas Stars split over parts of three seasons. Gainey was selected by Dallas with their third choice (3rd round, 77th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
The Rampage (4-8-0-0) return to the ice tomorrow night, Express-News Value Night, at the SBC Center when they face the Manitoba Moose at 7 p.m. For only $15, fans can get a game ticket, hot dog, soft drink and a bag of chips when they bring the Express-News coupon to the SBC Center box office.
