On Wednesday night, Ryan Vesce and Dennis Packard scored third-period goals to give Springfield a 4-3 win over Albany... Anton Babchuk scored twice in Norfolk's 3-2 win at Bridgeport... Kris Beech had a goal and an assist in regulation and scored the only shootout goal as Milwaukee beat Omaha, 3-2... On Thursday, Corey Locke had a goal and two assists in Hamilton's 4-1 win over Toronto at the Air Canada Centre.

LOOKING AHEAD:
The Hershey Bears have won eight Calder Cups and more than 2,300 games in franchise history; the Philadelphia Phantoms have won two titles since the Bears' last triumph in 1997, and are 21-2-0-1 against Hershey over the last two years... The East Division foes begin the 10th season of their arch-rivalry on Friday at the Wachovia Spectrum (7:05 ET)... Including last spring's playoff run, Philadelphia has won 13 straight home games, but all of those came next door at the Wachovia Center... Both teams are without their leading scorers: the Phantoms' R.J. Umberger is up with the Flyers, while Hershey's Tomas Fleischmann made his NHL debut with Washington in Philadelphia on Thursday... The Phantoms enter the weekend on a four-game losing slide; Hershey is 1-2-0-2 in its last five... Boyd Kane, captain of the 2005 Calder Cup champion Phantoms, now wears the "C" for the Bears.
A pair of first-place teams square off at the Toyota Center on Friday (7:35 CT) when Houston hosts Manitoba... The Moose, who are beginning a seven-game road stretch with four games in Texas, posted a 2-0 win in San Antonio on Wednesday night, Wade Flaherty's second straight shutout... Manitoba has won three in a row overall and four straight away from home... The Aeros are 8-4-1-0 on the year entering the weekend, despite allowing more goals (47) than they've scored (45)... Houston's Erik Westrum, who had 30 points in 80 games last year, has recorded 20 points (6g, 14a) already in 2005-06, one off the league lead... Manitoba has won five straight meetings with Houston by a combined score of 23-6.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton makes a run at history this weekend, putting its 9-0-0-0 record on the line with a game against Springfield on Friday (7:05 ET) followed by a home-and-home with Philadelphia... The Penguins are looking to supplant the 1984-85 Rochester Americans in AHL annals as owners of the longest winning streak to start a season; those Amerks began the year with 11 straight wins... With two of its top three scorers on NHL recall, Wilkes-Barre's offense is now led by Michel Ouellet with 16 points (6g, 10a) in nine games... Marc-Andre Fleury leads the AHL in wins (six), GAA (1.17) and save percentage (.955).

42.3 -- Percent of Rochester's league-leading 2005-06 offense lost on Thursday when Jason Pominville and Derek Roy were recalled by the Buffalo Sabres, and it was announced that captain Chris Taylor would be out indefinitely following surgery for compartment syndrome, the swelling of pressure within the muscles to dangerous levels.
