BRIDGEPORT, CT - Seven goals from seven different players gave the Manchester Monarchs a 7-5 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in front of 3,730 fans at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Friday night. The Monarchs (5-2-0-1, 11 points) are on a four-game winning streak and are currently in fifth place in the Atlantic Division. Bridgeport (2-6-1-0, 5 points) remains in fifth place in the East Division.

Left wing Steve Regier put the Sound Tigers on the board with his first goal of the season at 11:09 of the first period. Regier poked in the puck from center Evgeny Tunik and left wing Travis Brigley on the doorstep of Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser.

Just over four minutes later, Bridgeport's right wing Rob Collins capitalized on a penalty shot after he was nudged off the puck during a slight breakaway by Monarchs defenseman Brad Fast. Collins skated in on Hauser, forced the netminder to go down and then lifted the puck just over the goaltender's left glove. The 5-foot-10, 186-pound winger tallied his fourth of the season at 15:47 of the first period.

Rookie right wing Konstantin Pushkarev started the scoring for the Monarchs by tipping in defenseman Marty Wilford's shot from the top of the right face-off circle. Right wing Lauri Tukonen assisted on the power play goal at 17:57 of the first.

Bridgeport center Wyatt Smith extended the Sound Tigers lead to 3-1 with his second goal of the season at 5:41 of the second period. Regier slid the puck through the crease and over to Smith who scored into an empty net from the right goal post. Center Luch Aquino also assisted on the play.

Fast made up for the penalty shot he provoked earlier in the game by scoring his first of the season at 7:32 of the second period. The defenseman's slap shot from the top of the right face-off circle was the first of four second period goals for the Monarchs. Wilford and center Connor James assisted on the goal to bring Manchester within one.

With Fast in the penalty box for interference, Monarchs center Matt Ryan scored his first of the season and first professional shorthanded goal at 9:50 of the second period. Ryan stole the puck from the Sound Tigers at center ice, skated in on the Bridgeport's gaoltender Wade Dubielewicz and snuck the puck over the netminder's glove. Defenseman Doug Nolan assisted on the tally.

The Monarchs had a 5-on-3 power play in the second period and Tukonen tipped in defenseman Denis Grebeshkov's shot from the point to give the Monarchs their first lead of the game, 4-3, at 12:22 of the period. Left wing Jeff Tambellini also assisted on Tukonen's second of the season.

Defenseman Mark Ardelan's sniper shot from the point gave the Monarchs a 5-3 lead at 17:01 of the middle period. Wilford recorded his third assist on the evening on Ardelan's first goal of the season and first AHL goal of his career.

Bridgeport's Smith scored his second of the evening and brought the Sound Tigers to within one as he lifted in the rebound from Tunik's shot off Hauser's left pad at 8:10 of the final period. Collins earned his second point of the game by assisting on the play.

Tambellini tallied his third goal in as many games at 13:17 of the third period. The rookie left winger capitalized on the rebound from Monarchs left wing Brad Smyth's shot. James tallied his second assist.

Regier scored his second of the evening from defenseman Vince Macri. Reiger broke away from center ice and shot the puck five-hole on Hauser at 15:56 of the third period.

Manchester's Smyth finished off the Sound Tigers with an empty net goal at the 19-minute mark of the final period. Defenseman Joey Mormina and Tambellini assisted on Smyth's second of the season to give the Monarchs a 7-5 win.

Hauser finished the game with 27 saves on 32 shots, while Dubielewicz stopped 44 of 50 shots from the Monarchs.

The Monarchs set a new franchise record for shots on goal in a period with 31 shots on Dubielewicz in the middle frame. The previous record of 29 shots in a period was recorded against the Portland Pirates in the second period of the Monarchs game on November 2, 2002.
