Cleveland Barons News Release
ROCHESTER, NY - Jamie Holden backstopped the Barons to their second consecutive win by allowing just two goals in Rochester on Friday night. Patrick Rissmiller scored the game-winning goal in a 4-2 final.
Special teams have played a major role in the season series between these teams, so it was no surprise to see the game's opening goal scored while the Barons were on the night's first power play opportunity. Unfortunately it was Rochester who scored for the 1-0 lead as Michael Ryan tallied his fourth goal of the year at the 4:39 mark on assists from Jeff Jillson and Danielle Paille. Exactly fifteen minutes later the Barons extended their lead to 2-0 as Mark Mancari scored his first professional goal with 21-seconds remaining in the period. The Barons out-shot Rochester 14-12 through the opening twenty minutes. Both, Rochester's Michael Leighton and Cleveland's Jamie Holden, were making their second consecutive appearance in goal for their respective teams.
The Barons battled back to tie the game at 2-2 through forty minutes with a spirited second period of action. Mike Iggulden scored his fourth goal of the season on a deflection to start the comeback effort. Matt Carkner, who shot the puck from his blue line position, earned an assist on the goal along with Ed Campbell. The period's final goal came from Garrett Stafford, his first goal of the season on an assist from Shane Joseph and Josh Prudden.
After struggling in the early going of the season on the power play, the Barons used the man-advantage to score the night's deciding goal. Patrick Rissmiller tipped a shot from Ray DiLauro past Leighton for the game-winner just 1:19 into the third period. Grant Stevenson then potted a late empty-net goal to secure the victory at 4-2 over Rochester. Jamie Holden earned the second AHL win of his career with 30-saves.
The Barons return to home ice on Sunday evening at 5 O'clock to face the Syracuse Crunch at National City Rink in The Q. Tickets for all regular season games are on sale now and group discounted tickets are available by calling the Barons at 216-420-0000.
