
Sound Tigers Head Into All-Star Break On Three Game Win Streak

The Sound Tigers went into the AHL All-Star break after winning all three games last week beating the Saint John Flames 5-2 at home Wednesday, the Worcester IceCats 4-1 at home Friday and the Albany River Rats 5-4 on the road Saturday. They finished the week in second place in the East Division with 57 points and a 23-17-9-2 record including 13-6-3-1 at home and 10-11-6-1 on the road. The Sound Tigers' three-game winning streak is tied for the longest, active streak in the league.
WED JAN 29th vs. SJN, 5-2 W: TRENT HUNTER and MATT HIGGINS had a goal and an assist apiece, JUSTIN MAPLETOFT had two assists, MARTIN CHABADA, BRANDON SMITH and JEREMY ADDUONO scored once each, and DAVID ST. GERMAIN made 29 saves for his first-ever AHL win. Higgins' goal was scored shorthanded. The Sound Tigers were 0 for 4 on the power play while Saint John was 0 for 7. The shots on goal were tied 31-31. The Sound Tigers are 3-0 against the Flames this season.
FRI JAN 31st vs. WOR, 4-1 W: RAFFI TORRES notched the Sound Tigers' first hat trick since last March 29th, JEFF HAMILTON had a goal and an assist, BRANDON SMITH had two assists, and SCOTT STIRLING made 32 saves and assisted on the game-winning goal for his second AHL win of the season with other coming while he played for the IceCats. The Sound Tigers were 1 for 5 on the power play, 4 for 4 on the penalty kill and outshot Worcester 35-33 to sweep the two-game season series.
SAT FEB 1st at ALB, 5-4 W: ERIC MANLOW had a goal and two assists, JEREMY ADDUONO and KONSTANTIN KALMIKOV has a goal and an assist apiece, JUSTIN MAPLETOFT and TRENT HUNTER scored one goal apiece, and SCOTT STIRLING made 25 saves. The Sound Tigers were 2 for 5 on the power play, 4 for 5 on the penalty kill and outshot Albany 30-29. They are 2-0-1-0 this season versus the River Rats playing all three games in Albany.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK â LW RAFFI TORRES
Torres returned to the Sound Tigers on reassignment from the Islanders Friday morning and notched the first hat trick of his professional career, the team's first since last March 29th, in that night's 4-1 win over Worcester. The fifth overall pick in the 2000 NHL draft has 12 goals, nine assists, 21 points and 52 penalty minutes in 33 games with the Sound Tigers, as well as five assists and ten penalty minutes in 15 games with the Islanders this season.
THIS WEEK â Sound Tigers Return From All-Star Break For Two Game Weekend Homestand The Sound Tigers will return to action following the AHL All-Star break with two home games this weekend hosting the Hartford Wolf Pack Friday at 7:35 p.m. and the Saint John Flames Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
FRI FEB 7th vs. HFD, 7:35 p.m.: This will be the fifth of ten meetings, the fourth of five at Arena at Harbor Yard, this regular season. The Sound Tigers are 8-6 all-time, including 2-2 this season, versus Hartford who enters this week in third place in the East Division, four points behind the Sound Tigers, with 53 points and a 22-20-6-3 record including 11-12-3-1 on the road and 4-5-0-1 in the last ten games. The next three games in the series will be played in Hartford, and the teams will also, for the second year in a row, finish the regular season with a home-and-home series ending in Bridgeport. The Wolf Pack lost their most recent outing 4-1 on the road to Saint John Saturday. LW GARRETT BURNETT is fourth in the AHL with 183 penalty minutes. Hartford does not play again until Friday. SAT FEB 8th vs. SJN, 7:05 p.m.: This will be the fourth and final meeting, the second of two in Bridgeport, in this year's regular-season series. The Sound Tigers are 6-1 all-time, including 3-0 this season, versus Saint John who enters this week in fourth place in the Canadian Division with 38 points and a 17-25-3-1 record including 8-13-1-0 on the road and 4-5-1-0 in the last ten games. The Flames won their most recent game 4-1 at home over Hartford Saturday. Saint John leads the league taking an average of 36.13 shots on goal per game. C JASON MORGAN is tied for the AHL's second-longest, active assist streak with one helper in each of his last five games. C DARCY VEROT is fifth in the league with 181 penalty minutes. After hosting the Lowell Lock Monsters Wednesday, the Flames will kick off a five-game road trip by visiting the Providence Bruins Friday.

The "Send A Valentine To Your Favorite Sound Tiger" fundraiser benefiting the Kennedy Center will conclude at this weekend's games. Griffin Hospital and Bob's Stores will have kiosks on the arena concourse Friday, and BRANDON SMITH will sign autographs after the game. Saturday will be "Stratford Appreciation Night" with discounted tickets for Stratford residents and a ceremonial face-off involving Town Council Chairman ROBERT CALZONE. The Stratford High School Chamber Singers and Bunnell High School Studio Voices will perform the national anthem before the game. "Young Guns" posters featuring JUSTIN MAPLETOFT and TRENT HUNTER will be given to the first five-thousand fans Saturday courtesy of Success Printing, Inc., and Mapletoft and Hunter will sign autographs after the game. The Sound Tigers will hold "Celebrity Bartenders II" next Tuesday, February 11th at 8 p.m. at Amberjacks in South Norwalk to benefit the Children's Connection in Norwalk. The event will include a charity auction.
